What is the Greater
Manchester Charity Trustee Network?
The Greater Manchester Charity Trustees Network is a way of supporting
and encouraging the development of people who have taken on the role of
management committee member or trustee of a voluntary or community group.
It's a network of trustees and committee members who offer support and
advice to one another on any and all subjects that might be of concern
to them.
How does it work?
The network meets for a few hours in an evening once every two to
three months giving the members an opportunity to listen and talk to a
speaker or expert on a topic they've chosen. It also gives members the
chance to meet face to face and share concerns, ask advice and support
from others in a similar position, pick other trustees brains etc etc.
Also there will
shortly be an email group set up to enable members of the network to communicate
and offer/gain support in between meeting times via email. For
those members without email we hope to establish a telephone network .
Who can join the
network?
Any member
of a management/executive committee of a voluntary or community group,
or trustee of a charity based in the Greater Manchester area can join
the network. Members
of staff and other volunteers are not allowed to join the network or to
attend meetings.
What will it cost
me/my organisation?
It won't
cost you or your organisation any money other than the expenses you might
incur in getting to and from meetings. It
will cost you a few hours of your time once every two to three months.
What will I/my
organisation get from it?
You will get access to a wealth of information and knowledge at your
fingertips. You will be able to access support and advice from 100+ others
in your position who have already joined the network. You
will have the chance to share your own knowledge, skills and experiences
as a trustee with others looking to learn as they work. Membership
of this network is only open to management committee members and trustees
of voluntary and community organisations.
