The aims of support services to young carers are to:
• Ensure ‘whole family working' and the effective implementation of interagency, whole family assessments and service delivery.
• Ensure young carers are able to achieve the outcomes in Every Child Matters.
• Promote joint working/partnerships between the independent sector, adult and children's services.
• Raise awareness of young carers amongst all agencies that come into contact with young people or disabled adults.
• Provide direct services to deliver safe, quality support to those children who continue to be affected by a caring role within their family.
• Provide a central point of contact/support to represent all Manchester's young carers ensuring that BME, LGBT and other minorities' are also included.
• Have consultation and involvement of young carers that is age and culturally appropriate for a wide range of children and young people.

Bolton Council has submitted a bid to the Department for Transport (DfT) in order to deliver national standard cycle training to children during 2010/11. It is our intends to use DfT funding to train the target number of 1,875 children in year 6 at primary schools in Bolton to Bikeability level 2 national cycle training standard. Subject to the bid for the grant being successful, this funding must be fully discharged during the financial year. Skills for Care is seeking consultants to design and deliver a programme of training in the facilitation and leading of action learning primarily in relation to the use of action learning sets in the support of newly qualified social workers (NQSW), their supervisors and managers. This project is part of a range of resources provided in support of the NQSW Framework in adult services. The training will be aimed at experienced social work practitioners, team and service managers and training and development staff who are or intend to be involved in supervising or supporting NQSW, and may be from any organisation employing newly qualified social workers.

Expressions of Interest for Early Intervention and Prevention Fund Children's Services The Children's Services Directorate of Salford City Council is seeking to appoint organisations for the provision of high quality interventions with children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 (or 21 for those with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities) to promote the Every Child Matters Outcomes. The successful providers will be able to demonstrate experience of working in partnership with statutory agencies and with children and young people. They must also show skills necessary to work across a diverse population where communication may be through specialist tools or informal methods. The contract will commence from 1 June 2010 to 31 March 2011.
